I am looking into a dual monitor setup, both for uni work, and my own entertainment. I like to be able to watch movies, and design circuits, but also watch movies and play my various games, be it Plants vs Zombies, or STALKER :p I was having a look around to see what software can assist with dual monitor setups, and I noticed UltraMon.

Does anyone have any experience with using it, especially on Windows 7?

Is it good? Does it do a good job? Is it simple and effective? You know, the important stuff :p

I have it. It's good, simple and effective! Actually, it is very simple, but quite powerful if you want it to be :)

Excellent. Can I ask what you use it for? I noticed some of the things it can do on the home page, but I wanted to know it little bit more really.

Is it good for having a media player one screen, and other programs and games on the other etc? :) Also, any chance of some screenshots of what else it can do? :p Sorry to be so long winded, just need to make sure I'm making the right decision by going dual monitor!

I found Ultramon to be randomly buggy, in the end I settled on DisplayFusion Pro as I only wanted independant wallpapers.

I downloaded a pirate copy of UltraMon but I uninstalled it after a couple of days, I found no use for it personally. I guess the only useful thing to use it for is to switch programs between screens, but most programs you can do that yourself anyways.

What do you mean by buggy? In what way? Sorry, just want lots of info :p

Ok. Did you find it good while you used it? Or did you not use it to it's full potential? I just want something to make life easier, when gaming and working on both monitors, or know that it is worth it! Don't want to buy a second monitor, and not find a use for my current one as a dual :p

It would just crash out and close down randomly, or spit out weird Visual C++ runtime errors.
Ultramon was going through a mass of development work at the time though, so it has probably long since stabilised.

im after a free app which will allow me to move an application from one monitor to another like ultramon?

I used to use Ultramon but now use DisplayFusion as Ultramon's Windows 7 support was initially dodgy (though chances are it's better now).

I mainly use it so I can have different taskbars on each screen.

In Windows 7 just press [start]+[shift]+ {
/
/[up]/[down]} to move a window to a monitor in the direction of the arrorw key.

Yeah, apparently it's now quite stable on Windows 7. Is on version 3, I'm running it on my system right now (the trial) just to see how it runs etc :)

Hmm, I will see if I actually use it. As for dual monitors in general, is it pretty easy to move programs around etc? And use media player on the second monitor etc?
