This is a work related query, so bear with me. We've had an enquiry to set up a wireless array to a large exhibition hall, to connect around 2000+ devices. We have no experience with this at all so a bit unsure about how to go about doing it.

I presume we'll need a networking expert to help set it up. No idea what sort of qualifications are required to work out who we go to for help.

The exhibition hall would have their own internet connection, so is it just a matter of plugging in the wifi array where you would plug in the antennae and away you go?

If you are wanting to go down the route of doing this yourself, then have a look here. I have one of the non pro ones at my house (needed to increase signal strength and range) and they are a doddle to setup.

The software that comes with it is great too. Lets you see how many clients are attached to each AP and also the relative signal strengths, bands in use and useage stats. Also a very handy map page, where you can place the AP's onto and it gives you a representation of coverage.

If you have no experience with it then get someone else to do it. You definitely want this to be someone else's responsibility when it goes horribly wrong (which it will).

Seek help :)

I assisted putting up WAPs to cover like all of the Excel centre....that wasn't without its issues!

Don't be so negative lol :p

Echo the get professional help though.

If it was a few tens of people, you could do it yourself. 2000+ clients though, no thanks!

Read this and then you have a little idea of how over your head it could get.
