Hi All,
I've recently started having issues with my 7900xtx on start up.
It only shows half a display like its outputing the wrong resolution(Upside down as well) then decides to freeze on first start up.
I have to do a hard restart then works perfect. Its like it doesn't like the cold mornings.
I've tried all the usual DDU, new cables etc. Starting to think there's maybe a bad capacitor or something on the board.
Just wondered if anyone else had same experience with the XFX cards.

Thanks

At what point does it do it?
Before windows loads or after it?
Ie if you booted into the bios straight away
Would it still do it?

Could even be a windows issue
I spent months with my boot screen only filling
Half the screen (left half)
And was bright pink instead of blue
Was windows 11 insider build
Turned out to be a windows issue which they have
Finally fixed
It's surprising sometimes what looks like hardware fault
May actually be software related
Hi Mate,
Sounds very similar to my issue! Left side would only show and would be slightly pink colour also.
I'm on windows 10 atm but might have to go for the 11 upgrade shortly.

It shows the bios screen then windows loading screen fine.
Then when the login screen comes up its all messed up haha.

Thanks for all the input everyone, great info.
Think I might try installing windows 11 and start fresh.
I also think I might have to upgrade my PSU to a 850w+

If it still does it
After a clean windows 11 install (not an in place upgrade)
Then yeah may need to consider a hardware issue
Could also try boot a live usb
Something like Ubuntu or other Linux
Or a windows RE
If those boot up fine then likely a windows/software issue

My normal approach is try to rule out a software issue
Before resorting to spending money on hardware
That's a great shout.

I've just discovered if unplug the dp cable and plug it back in it sometimes resolves the issue.
I have heard a lot of mixed reviews about windows 11 but will probably be forced to do so eventually.

Morning all,

Think I maybe on to something. Just ran DDU and left the drivers off.
Computer starts fine every time now, but as soon as I install the drivers for the Gpu it glitches often on start ups now.
Tried the latest Amd adrenaline drivers/software but still continues to glitch.
Just let windows do its thing and it all seem to be working fine without installing the Amd drivers.

Good Evening all,

Thought id post an update.
Problem solved.. I think

Installed Windows 11 after formatting. Installed all latest up to date drivers. Turned machine off, then back on again. Still same issue. Screen still glitches on start up after bios.
But I ran DDU, installed an older version of Amd Adrenaline. 22.12.2. Has worked perfect ever since..
Also did a bios update too

Why would this be the case?
Could it still be a faulty Card. Just a driver issue?

Thanks
