Anyone having issues with xbox live?

This weekend will be interesting as it's the first weekend since Christmas and the New Year. Bet the network still dies. I've a sneaky feeling these problems aren't related to too many subscribers. I keep feeling that it's a DoS attack on Live and Xbox.com.

In 25 days time-ish when all the new "1 month free" users are gone it will all be fine. Only way to convince them to stay (they have probably got a worse view of the service than us long time users) is if they roll out this free game sharpish (everyone likes something free!!!).

It is a simple case of they sold a lot of 360's and a lot of the users tried the 1 month free gold and it overloaded their servers. I genuinely cannot think it is anything more complicated than that. If it was DoS or something else we would have heard about it by now.

There are rumours going around on websites that it was "hackers" and I have some people bitching on my forums about how it's unacceptable. True but seriously... just go outside once in a while. Make some friends or something...

I think exactly the same as you rp2000. It's Christmas and I expected it.

Please be Rez.... please be Rez.... PLEASE!

Just wondering, I havent been online with my 360 in a long time, but how long has Xbox Live been down for? Tried it today and just wondered how long I would have to wait till it went back up or anything...?

It's largely fixed now. There may still be some minor issues while they iron it all out, but it's looking pretty good.

Listening to Major Nelson and E discuss it was quite interesting. By the sounds of it there was a whole load of things that went wrong!

Microsoft Sued over Xbox LIVE Outage

Three Texas residents filed a lawsuit Friday on behalf of themselves and others who have had trouble connecting to Xbox Live in recent weeks.

The suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Houston, claims Microsoft's outages represent a breach of contract and negligent misrepresentation for which the software maker is liable. The suit doesn't claim specific damages, but notes the amount is in excess of $5 million.
In the suit, the plaintiffs allege that Microsoft should have known strong holiday sales would tax its servers. "Microsoft knew the increase in subscriptions would increase game-play on its servers, yet failed to provide adequate access and service to Xbox Live and its subscribers."

That is ridiculous. Probably three spotty yankee teenagers. 5 million? I know I wouldn't want to take on MS lawyers with such a flimsy claim... then again in America anything can happen.

That's exactly what i was thinking, after this period is passed i think it'll be fine. Still, they should get more servers and fix the problem however it can be fixed. They have the money! Use it to make a good service. I'm stunned how long its taking one of the largest companies in the world to fix the problem.

I Wonder if there's any grounds for a counter claim. And I hope they get lumped with all the court bills

Got a few new games today, need to update them but it disconnects me from live every time I try to update, anyone else able to test this?

Trying to redeem a code since last night. Although it recognises that there is a Months Free it won't let me redeem it.
Anybody else having problems redeeming a Voucher ? Is it down to the shoddy Live at the mo ?
What you reckon guys ?

Just tried CoD4, says I dont have an active network connection - nice one. Major Nelson said it was all fixed, obviously talking out of his **** :(
