I have been getting an issue were about 30 mins after turning my PC on and running World of warcraft my sounds spits out a load of mess then stops working. This always co-incides with my NIC dropping its connection.

I noticed that windows update installed a new NIC driver (microsoft one) for my onboard realtek NIC. (asus rampage gene) I reverted back to the realtek drive last night to test this but wondered if anyone else had experienced issues like this.

I also seem to have issues with windows changing the volume on certain applications by itself.

Im using a X-Fi extreme Gamer PCI card not the onboard X-FI MB

A couple of us on here have had issues with NIC drivers. Even with the latest ones available for my card I cannot connect to the internet on rebbot unless I reinstall the drivers.

I looked on a windows 7 forum http://www.sevenforums.com/network-sharing/ and there are large amounts of people with Network card woes on reboot.

No one seems to have a fix that works yet so I'm waiting it out :D

I have had a similar thing CraigN on my previous install.

My music in Winamp stopped followed straight away by a loud screech then the sound stops altogether.
After a few minutes the sound normally works again.

When it happens my attention is always on the sound so I wouldn't of noticed my nic dropping out but I,ll keep an eye out for it now.

Runing a fresh Windows 7 Home install so hoping it does not happen again!
Marvell Yukon Gigabit onboard running a updated driver from Microsoft.
Auzen X-Fi Prelude 7.1 Pci

i had been running the RC for some weeks and didnt have an issue (i was using onboard sound then) seems to be more of an issue with the release version for me (fresh install of home premium done last thursday).

Eternal Movement thats exactly it, However mine sometimes tries to come back to life i can hear it but i notice it because im playing warcraft and connected to Ventrillo / Skype at the same time My NIC drops out arround the same time and if i try and troubleshoot the connection i get a BSOD.

I reinstalled the realtek driver last night dated 23/10/2009 and has been ok since will have to see.

Im not sure if they are related or separate problems tho as they always seem to happen at the same time for me.
