It was awhile ago I had to do this so hopefully this is correct.
Booted into linux from the boot cd I assume you can still get, I think I had to set the same username and password as a user on the linux boot as used on the Stora, then copy the files across to another hard drive,
good luck :)

First thing first: don't bugger with it until you have a way forward. And when you do have a way forward, don't write anything to the drives.

Hello Gavin,
try this, more explicit post ;)
with Ubuntu and maybe some other versions of Linux, you can download and then try it without installing / wiping your Windows install on either CD/DVD or my preference USB stick, more info below

once done and in Ubunto, I think I needed the username and maybe password (that were used on your Stora) to access the hard drives that were in the Stora, but now connected to PC, best to only connect the hard drives when you are going to "boot" into Ubunto, but have a play with Ubunto before you connect the hard drive/s that were in your Stora. I might have had to make the username and probably password on Ubuntu the same as what was used on Stora.
It was a few years ago I did all this hence the vagueness.
Plus what Quartz said.
Let me know how you get on,
Cheers

You'll need USB to SATA adapters or something like an Icydock if you don't want to mount the HDDs internally (and you shouldn't).
