Anyone here claim ESA?

 Have you seen the effect chemotherapy and radiotherapy has on the body?
If you can get out of bed you are doing well.

Whilst I agree with the sentiment of your post you have posted a kind of doomsday picture of cancer sufferers there. We had a chap who recently died from colon cancer at my work and he of course was signed off and was having tonnes of Chemo but he'd always pop in once a week to see us. He was not fit for work, but having cancer doesn't make you bed ridden either (in most cases).

I am glad to hear you have help with this. Have a look at this site for any pointers as to what to expect:

Good luck :)

Thank you. Based on the score thing they said I do get over 15 points, things like leaving the gas or oven on overnight don't help.

also get you gp to refer you to the local mental health unit, dont do phone asesment get a f2f

I'm currently undergoing CBT with the mental health team, for what that's worth.

I'm trying to get into work at the moment, though I haven't heard anything back from potential employers yet, but JSA is too intensive, the amount of weekly contacts they expect me to make based on the problems I have and the amount and type of jobs available is unrealistic. I'm surprised anyone can manage their ideal two a day tbh.

As someone who has worked in the industry of supporting those with long term illnesses back to work, I am one of the last to be a supporter of ATOS, believe me. It was however an eye opener watching that documentary a few weeks back where the undercover doctor was forced to follow a script provided by DWP and he was not able to use his professional judgement one bit. If he put too many through as passes, he got a rollocking from further up the chain of command.

There are loads of different types of cancer, and different treatments. A blanket policy is flawed, no?

Follow the line of the conversation dude, it started off talking about someone with Lung Cancer who was deemed fit for work. No one has ever suggested all cancers are the same.

I currently get ESA and Tbh it was really simple and hassle free to claim. I had one medical and was awarded £75 a week from this. My medical was with atos I believe.

I suffer from bowel disease and was discharged from the forces because of this so went armed with all my forces medical reports war and RAF pension info and was there about 10 mins.

I received a letter about 2 weeks later showing what I would be getting. I have never seen any points on anything just unfit for work statements.

I don't have to have any other medicals but after 12 months of claiming I have to be re-assessed I think.

What bowel disease do you have? I'm not having a pop I'm just interested, I've got UC and it can pretty bad. I know there's certain jobs I can't do because of it, but I wasn't planning on becoming a train driver or an air traffic controller :p
