anyone here have cineworld unlimited card?

We've currently got an Odeon unlimited card. Is your question specific to the cineworld card? or more around general use of unlimited film cards.

I don't but a mate does. He seems to get a lot of use out of it, enjoys going to watch lots of films and watching them a few times if he likes them. He tends to go on his own I think. Guess it would be worth it if you think you'd enjoy doing that.

Personally don't tend to rewatch films very much (especially not within a short period of time) and only really keen to see a few new films a year so wouldn't be worth it for me. Plus I don't like my local cineworld since they ruined the one film I saw there with a fire alarm (which was a known issue since it opened apparently, having gone off several times for no reason). There was an evacuation route that led to an enclosed area someone had to take down some heras fencing to escape from, and then a long delay to restart the film which they then did about 20 minutes further on. It then took them another 20 minutes to stop the film and wind it back. Then you had to apply online for compensation rather than automatically be given a voucher. And the seats weren't very comfortable.

I prefer to go to the odeon lux, which is nicer, has never ruined a film for me, and if the gf gets meercat voucher codes from her mum, a lot cheaper.

I've had mine since 2014, not been used as much recently but before covid we we're going nearly every weekend, if you go more than once a month it pays for itself.

Will say that we used to try going anytime of day but due to parking and the age difference on later showings, I turned into a old man and we used to go for the first Saturday morning showing, less people unless it was a huge release and people there who generally enjoy films and know how to keep quiet whilst it's on and not talk or be on their phone.

I had one for Odeon for about 3 years, right up to the Pandemic.

I loved it, I live very close to the cinema, I got to know the timing so well that I would leave AFTER the trailers has started, get in my car, get there and park up and walk in as the BBFC logos comes on.

I often go 3-4 times a week, watching pretty much all new releases, some films multiple times. Sometimes I would book in advance but if something comes up I will just skip and rebook and not lost anything. I can totally make full value of the £18 a month subscription.

Since the pandemic things have changed a lot, movies now come on streaming services literally like 4 weeks after screening, if not the same time. It used to mean be that the cinema would have at least 3 - 6 months exclusive rights before it goes to physical media and then it could be 12 months before it comes to streaming platforms. The pandemic has changed the way movies are released and I find it is not as good value as before.

I did go see Dune at the IMAX but that’s the only movie I have been to the cinema for since the pandemic. I think the one before that was Birds of Prey.

Odeon changed their subscription quite a bit too. We had one when they first launched the unlimited card years ago, but eventually got fed up of feeling like you had to go to the cinema in order to make the card worthwhile - at £17.99 a month was equal to two films a month. Which might not sound a lot, but after several months of going it soon becomes a chore and the novelty wore off. You were also tied into the sub for a year.

They launched a new subscription a few months ago for £11.99 a month same unlimited benefits as before, but the minimum term is only 3 months. So we'll decide around Spring (As you get the warmer weather/longer days) whether to cancel then.

I used to have one a few years ago as the cinema was across the road from my office. It roughly worked out then as need to see 2 films a month to break even. I found that easy to do with my highest being 50 in a year.

The one thing I liked about it was I went to see films I wouldn’t normally see as there’s no ‘cost’ if it turns out I didn’t enjoy it.

I only cancelled it because my office moved so would have had to travel 40 mins to the cinema.

Edit: It also worked out as they validated parking for 3 hours. Being a city centre cinema it was easy to get free parking if I went shopping.

I emailed you earlier after you sent me a trust message.

Harry Potter 8? What is that?

Cineworld are going to play all the Harry Potter films again.

I've had one for a long time now, and after the big lockdown they changed the prices so now I only pay half as much for my local.
In terms of value, it depends on what is showing.
Some months I don't go, others I hammer it, The Unlimited showings can be a nice perk and don't forget the discount on food/drinks (10% raising to 25% after you've had the card for a year) if you don't bring your own snacks

Generally though 2-3 movies a month and you get your moneys worth.
The bigger plus sometimes is seeing a movie you might not have but hey-ho your bored and sometimes you get a gem.
Other times it's watching films you want to, but wouldn't pay to watch in the cinema.

This

The cinema doesn't have the same appeal for me now after covid, quite happy to watch at home instead. I wasn't the biggest fan pre-pandemic either really, only went to see the big blockbusters so a subscription never made sense.

I had the Odeon Limitless it was good but it started to feel like a chore to go to the Cinema to make sure i got my moneys worth.
