Anyone here read/collect comics?

How do you find or know the value for your comics? I have a collection of about 300 from when I was a teenager - mostly Spiderman and a lot of Marvel, I reckon it's worth about a grand but wouldn't know how or the best way to sell them and value them individually.

Use this site then knock off around 25% of the value they suggest to give you a real world idea of what folks will pay.

I was slow off the mark with this, however i've just pre-ordered my final issue, have managed to get all 52 issues for...£125'ish :D

Very very proud of myself, did have to spend £5.99 on Detective Comics #1 though, also got a variant of Action Comics #1 for £3.99 from Forbidden Planet about an hour ago.
 
i have a lot of the Aliens comics and the aliens vs predator.

I have a Aliens Vs Superman which is super rare
 
I'm missing a few:

Justice League International
OMAC
Men of War

If you can point me to somewhere best for these that would be appreciated. I checked Disposable Heroes but I can't get those from there.

Agree that Image is where it's at at the moment. I've got all of 52, Countdown, Infinite and final Crisis and most (if not all) of the crossovers and mini series. It got ridiculously expensive, and it's not even that good, so I've tried to cut back on that front :D

Currently under Image I'm reading Walking Dead, Invinvible, Bomb Queen, Powers, Chew.

Also reading The Boys and I'm a big Superman fan so I pick up sporadicSuperman issues/TPBs periodically.

Morning Glories is on my birthday list so I'm looking forward to that!

Have you been into your local comic shop or Forbidden Planet?

I spent £5.99 for Detective #1 on ebay on saturday. I went up to brum yesterday, picked up a few issues for regular price, same with Justice League #1, put them on the bay last night, doubled what I paid in less than 2 hours.

I'm going back up to brum tomorrow evening and buying about 10 or more Detective #1's...one issue went for £26 on ebay last night :eek:
 
SixTwoSix, I have a collection of comics i'm looking to sell if you're interested? It's around 200+ with a mix of mostly marvel and dc but some other stuff like a few cerebus. Local shop was out of stock. I can see a detective comic on ebay now for £25!! :eek: I have 3 copies sat here beside me :D might as well stick them on ebay now lol
 
I have half heartedly collected in the passt and am just getting back into it. I have Gaiman's Sandman from 40 onwards, all the Death mini series and the Galleries. I have most of Lucifer too, what a wonderful series that was.

Having just got back into collecting my aim is to get all of Spawn. I have the first 20 and about 20 from the 180 point, so plenty to go at there!! After that it's back to complete the Sandman and Lucifer collections.

I have also started a regular order for a few of the New 52, includign Justice League, Suicide Squad and Nightwing. I really liked the first JL so have quite high hopes :)

It's a great hobby, I see it as collecting art, with the added bonus of stories to read at the same time. I know a lot of people see it differently, but that's my take.
 
Managed to source all but MenofWar of the new 52. WIll have to just suck it up and buy off ebay. My mate has quite kindly bought me a few of the new 52 despite me already owning them... might have to stick them on ebay in a few weeks then :D

Just received a huge batch of Bronze age Incredible Hulk too.

Anybody use the Stashmycomics web page?
 
My feeling with the New 52 is that they are fetching premium prices on eBay right now but it will be short lived. I imagine within a month or two people will be off loading these in the hundreds and the prices will plummet.

I have all 52 issues either on hand or pre-ordered, as soon as I get the final issue I will be putting the entire collection as a single collection on eBay and taking advantage of the premiums people are paying right now.

I will keep an extra copy of all the Batman related stuff for my personal collection and buy this month by month plus maybe Suicide Squad, the rest has all been bought for profit.

I think you might be right. I'm going to hold out to see how much full sets go for in a few weeks. If not a lot I'm tempted to store them forever :)
