Trying to decide whether to give it a bash or not. Got a small site for a friend to set up to sell a small list of products from. I've got the option via my current hosting to install straight from Fantastico either Cubecart, Zencart or OSCommerce.

Having fiddled around with all three, I like the look of Cubecart. Anyone here use it or have experience with it?.

Ta.

ive used cubecart it is good so is magento..
oscommerce is old ,buggy and vulnerable

i spend a long time using oscommerce to skin my store and as soon as it was uploaded to the internet, it was hacked over and over again.
all the addons and extra's all seem to crossover each other its a nightmare, none of the millions of security patches worked at all

i gave up

Heard a few folk say that OSC is a bit lacking. Is Cubecart fairly easy to get to grips with as far as being a newcomer to ecommerce solutions?. I'm pretty familiar with HTML and CSS but haven't touched anything like this before.

you will be able to get on with cubecart or magento easy enough

i was very impressed with both of them coming from oscommerce

I built my first Cubecart shop recently.

I used the new Cubecart 5, and although It was easy to use and customise out of the box it did need a bit of work to get some functionality that does not come "out of the box". Furthermore the dev documentation is sorely lacking and the forums are pretty poor.

Its main problem is that its not open source so it lacks a thriving community.

The senior PHP dev at my work says Magento is better.
