Just need to know if I can return something bought online to a store, just for a exchange for same item, the item has been delivered damaged.

I'm in the same situation, bought a coffee machine for my mum. Nothing was damaged but when we tried it, it just wouldn't work. Looking at their site it says they have a 16-day return policy. From the site:

* Most things we sell are covered by our 16-day money-back guarantee. Just return them to any store, unused, in their original undamaged packaging, in a saleable condition, along with the receipt* and we'll give you a refund.
* If you don't have a receipt, as long as you have a proof of purchase* we'll exchange the item or give you a refund with vouchers.
* If you'd like to return something we've delivered, just call us on 0870 600 3030 and we'll collect it for free. Your order number will count as your receipt.
I'm going to a local store tomorrow to try and get a replacement. Only thing is it says unused, but we had to use it to find out it wasn't working, i should be able to get a replacment shouldn't i?

just had a better look on the site, below the bit you have quoted there is a bit about faulty returns, and it looks like it should be fine instore. Mine was a xbox 360, damaged box and a massive scuff along the top of the console.

Personally I dont think either of you will have a problem. Argos have always swapped/replaced things that broke for me with no hassle.

I also work as an IT contractor for Argos from time to time :) But I dont know anything about the retail aspect really.

Well looks like i'll be taking a trip to the shops tomorrow then. Gonna be fun on boxing day. :(

i used to work in argos, and that will be fine.

You only need to take in the faulty bit of whatever you bought, they will just take the bit you need out of a new box and stick your broken bit in there. (useful for things like 360's with the HD)

If it's damaged I'm sure it will be fine, but I was in Argos a few days before Christmas and they were telling every customer that xx product is excluded from the 16-day money back guarantee. I guess quite a few people cash in their presents :o.

No surprise some people might cash in on presents they don't want. I just want to replace the entire coffee machine for another, hopefully working one.

There may only be a 16-day money back guarantee but if goods are faulty then they have to offer an exchange anyway.
The 16-day period is really aimed at unwanted presents which should be returned in the same state they were bought.
