Hey,

Just wanted to check if anyone in the UK has ordered a 2408 recently and got the new firmware or is it just in the states for now.

Cheers, Terry.

I received my new 2408WFP yesterday and it was a Rev A01.

I am speaking to Dell about returning it for a Rev A02. Dell are happy to exchange it, but are not totally aware of the Rev A02 here in the UK. Could I be wrong in assuming that the UK 2408WFP is availabe in Rev A02???

They are also not sure how someone in the warehouse can be assured of picking a Rev A02 off the self when all the picker is looking for is a part No to barcode blip - not a Rev No.

Will let you know the outcome...

Someone has already posted here that they had received a A02 revision (of the 2408WFP) direct from Dell (UK) a week or so ago...

EDIT: See Here

Hey jbloggs

Thanks for this

This is very interesting as Dell UK Tech Support were struggling to confirm that a Rev A02 existed in the UK when speaking to them today. They seemed to be confused. I just needed to be absolutly sure that Rev A02 is available in the UK and not just in the USA, thus avoiding looking stupid...

Overall Dell UK is OK with exchanging the A01 for a A02, but are unsure how to garantee that an A02 is picked in the warehouse and shipped to me.

They are getting back to me tomorrow.

It couldn't be that difficult, the boxes all have the revision on a sticker on the side so if one pallet has an A01 the rest are likely that as well, just need to find one with A02 and they'd be set? (unless they get mixed pallets / shipments)

I got an A01 delivered to me this morning from Dell (which isn't supposed to arrive until tomorrow btw, luckily my housemate was at home).

update: just opened her up and everything is perfect so far, no dead/stuck pixel and even backlight. will compare it with my old 2407 A04 this weekend :)

I'm due to receive a new screen direct from the factory in the next week or two - I'll post which revision it is when it arrives. It was 'ordered' for me last Thursday...

My screen arrived on Monday direct from Dell and is indeed an A02 - very pleased with it. I have it side by side with the A01 refurb I rejected (and which will be collected next week). The A02 looks much nicer when the screens are in clone mode with the same screen settings. The A01 seems too bright and too harsh (sharp?). Very odd, but I'm so glad I held out for a new replacement.

Bought from OcUK & got an A02

Very good general purpose panel. I had to RMA an HP LP2475w as although it was great in game it was terrible for office/web work

So do you find the 2408WFP much better for office/web text based work than the LP2475w?

Most reviews say neither is great for text but the LP2475w is usually favoured above the 2408WFP but there are so many variables it's difficult to be sure :(

Does anyone know or has anyone tested whether input lag is improved further for the A02 revision?

From reading various sources, as I understand it A00 input lag was approx 60 ms, whereas A01 improved this to approx 30 ms

Now thinking seriously about buying one instead of the HP LP2475W

Thanks

Seriously; the 2408 is infinitely better than the HP for web/office.....
the white backgrounds on the HP look murky & the text looks smeared; it was hurting my eyes way too much!!

Was much happier with the Dell panel; a pretty good all rounder i thought

Be interested to hear your findings on that as, IMO, they've yet to better the 2407 A04

sorry, completely forgot about this :p

anyway, comparing two monitor side by side, colour on the 2408 seems to be more vivid and white is "whiter". Input-lag wise, I ran that clock program and from the picture I took, they are exactly the same :)

I have now returned the 2407 back to Dell and been using the 2408 in the last 5 weeks and I think I prefer the new 2408 :)
