A mate has just given me a couple of nice Whitby kippers; it's been ages since I had kippers and was wondering if anyone else likes 'em?

Will microwave for a couple of mins, knob of butter, squeeze of lemon and some fresh bread and butter ...yum! I live alone with my dog so the smell isn't a problem. :D

Kippers used to be on the breakfast menu at many hotels but one hardly finds anywhere now ..... shame really, they are nice. :)

Havent had kippers in ages, used to absolutly love it when my dad bought them for breakfast on our summer hols

I associate the word Kipper with a poor smelling Doris so No kipper is Not for malc. I am weird with food though, I don't eat sweetcorn after hearing of the aftermath involving botty love :(

It's not just gayers that are into botty love mate & the thought of bumping into an oncoming piece of sweetcorn makes me shudder, Some things you just have to Ban the Doris from eating :D

Thanks. I am no longer adding sweetcorn to my Cottage Pie on Sunday. :(

My dog likes them frozen.

Sardines and Mackerel too.

A few weeks ago I cooked some and took them upstairs to eat, I put the bones etc in a small glass of water I had (because they stick to everything). I forgot about it and it ended up staying under my bed for two weeks. When I found it the water was grey and cloudy - I decided to smell it. Worse idea ever :(.

On a nicer note, how exactly do you get rid of all the bones? I seemed to spend 90% of my time trying to get rid of them all :/.

no but my wife is and the pans she uses bloody stink until they have been washed twice! its not good either because there my pasta pans!

I'm told that heating them in a covered jug using boiling water (6mins) is the answer to them not stinking the place out; as for the bones, it is impossible to get 'em all, which is why people eat lots of bread with it ..... helps their passage into the stomach, I gather.

nom! kippers are fantastic with scrambled egg :) Love them here but havent had them for years as the mrs wont let me cook them in our house. :(
