I need an incredibly sharp hunting knife but there is a large selection on Amazon and I'm not sure which is the right one to get. Very sharp but not that long.
I have a few.

Gerber STL 2.5 Pocket Folder Folding Knife
An opinel no. 8 I think
And a cheapo 35 quid full tang camping knife from Whitby Knives used for wild camping wood things.

The Gerber comes sharp as a sharp thing.

What are you planing to use the knife for?

I have serval… but prefer an axe..

The harder the steel the better edge you can get on it, the longer lasting the sharpness but the harder it is to re-sharpe it.

Also there’s the different types of grinds for different usage.

It’s just like kitchen knives, you won’t use a pairing knife to de-bone.. but if your skill enough with the cleaver.. you can do everything with it. :)

Hmm, I have a Gerber paraframe and tbh the blade is ****.

I've sharpened it multiple times, but it just dulls really quickly.

As in - cutting up 5 or 6 cardboard boxes to put in the recycling - quickly.

Maybe just my sharpening technique needs work...

Not sure a serval is going to much good for chopping wood, but will certainly help with the hunting side of things (if you train it properly!) :D
