i'm after something to make a scrolling picture of a room from a fixed point in the middle so the user can 'look' around the room without breaks in pictures.

Anyone know what can do this?

There are many ways of doing this. Most examples are done in flash for the web. I presume you're making an online preview of a room?

The simplest way is to stitch a series of photos together. Photoshop has a tool for this. You'd just setup the camera on a tripod and take a photo every half a frame or so, preferably using a remote so you don't knock the camera.

You can them import these into photoshop and it will attempt to match the photos exactly. If you've used the tripod and kept the camera steady it should piece together well, but you might get some issues with the lighting. The lighting can also be touched up well.

All you need to setup in Flash is some simple actionscript to scroll the image left/right and you can add a slider to allow the user to control it. If you provide some decent res pics, you could do add a zoom function too.

If you like, you could send me the photos and I can see what I can do for you. As soon as it's been setup once, it can be used again and adain by just re-importing the image and changing some size values.

I've got an old program that I got with an Epson printer called "spin panorama" that produces a Quicktime video from a set of images. You just stand in the middle and take 360 degrees worth of images & it does the rest :)
