Anyone know about IMAP?

I use Outlook to retrieve both my Gmail and Uni e-mails. GMail is no problem as it is POP3, but my Uni email is IMAP and so whenever I try to delete emails in outlook it doesn't delete them from the IMAP server. Anyone know how I can sort this?

You have to click 'purge'. Where the option is depends on your Outlook version .
