Hi!

We recently moved in to our first house so all this is quite new to me, we got a 2nd hand machine to keep costs down

Anyways, we always use the same cycle for our stuff but lately it takes half an hour one day and as we speak the current cycle has been over an hour?it seems to stop and start over and over again, and all seems very random

Is it faulty or are we doing it wrong?

Its an indesit machine

I would have thought the same program should be the same each time

Thanks

Its a bit confusing, dont wanna buy a new one if we dont have to, the cycle has stopped now, took about an hour and a half

Different programs take different amount of times to complete. Different brands also work differently when it comes to the final spin.

Some simple tests you can do to check if the machine is mechanically sound.

Does it fill?
Does the drum turn?
Does it heat?
Does it empty?

If it does all of those then mechanically all of its functions are working.

After that you are looking at a control issue.

Modern machines have what is known as out of balance controls, these were introduced basically to stop the machine tearing itself to bits on the final spin.

People think that over loading a machine is bad, it isn't really, the issue with over loading is that your clothes will not come out clean as they can't move around in the drum.

Under loading causes more problems, with bigger drum sizes today you need to put more in them to get them to spin. What happens with the out of balance controls is the machine can detect when the weight of the load is not evenly distributed around the drum, if this happens the machine will not spin.

If it's the same cycle every time, and it takes half an hour one day, then it MUST be a fast wash (30min)
If a fast wash takes over an hour, and it's an indesit, i'd bet money on it being a faulty control panel/timer

Is it one of those load detecting cycles that detects the weight of the load and tries to balance out the drum?

If so the machine could be struggling to spin because it cant manage to get the load to even out.

possibly causes for that are if everything was chucked in bunched up or theres not a big enough load

Its an indesit machine
