Speed cameras?

I'm on a guernsey plate so my license plate is 5 silver numbers on a black plate...can speed cameras pick this up? I've been told that the UK speed cameras can't trace the number plate back if caught by a speed camera. Is this true for the Red Light cameras that flash and the digital cameras overhead...

thanks

No it's not true but don't let that stop you racing around & Killing all our Children you Blatant Hooligan.

I Never speed me.

I Never speed me.

lol...Who said I speed? I was asking a question as i went through a red light this morning just as it turned red and a van was right behind me so i couldnt slam on the brakes...

same thing...i also want to know about speed cameras if anyone knows...ive tried google but nothing. My father-in-law told me and I want to find out if he is bull****ing or telling the truth. we have never got on so on one hand i could see it as he is trying to get me in trouble, yet on the other hand, he told his daughter the same thing so dont know if its true thats all :)

On a serious answer, I heard that the cameras use the reflectors in the numberplate to define the letters, and if you sprayed the whole thing with something or covered it in cling film the camera cant pick it up. Since then i think they've tweaked the cameras so it can see passed it.

Are the silver letters reflective?

Try this,

Find a camera on a straight bit of road (in England)

Whizz past it a couple of times at varying speeds over 100MPH

Wait to see if anything bad happens

Mine are slightly shiner though...

This thread is growing on me :D

You post a pic of a plate & ask if a speed camera can take a pic of that plate. Wooooohoooooooo :p:p:p:p:p

Ye, if what i heard was correct, and they look pretty reflective... then its pretty likely that you'll get snapped.

my answer would be yes it would pick it up as the silver might not be visible in the pic but the black would get picked up leaving the outline of what the silver numbers were.

I'm not sure how it works for Guernsey but I know that for anyone with a Northern Ireland driving license if you are caught speeding in England, Scotland or Wales you still get fined but you don't get any points.
