Hi, does anyone know how i can change settings to my video card bios or where i could reflash it with a newer or clearer bios?

i flashed my laptop bios recently and since i havnt been able to see anything on my screen during boot up at all, i dont see the post, the logo, the bar that shows windows is starting etc.. the only time i see anything is when windows is about to start and asked for my password, understandably i wanna see this, and also cannot see what i am doing in the bios etc..

I phoned acer and they said basicly i shouldnt have updated my system bios, ok yeh great i know that, they think that a bios i did update contained an update for my video bios and it may have changed a setting within my video bios to now show a display during boot, he recommended i try the external display first to see if i can see anything with that and to try and reset the bios settings to see if it changes anything. I have connected an external monitor and sure i can see the bios and normal startup stuff now through that, but i have tried resetting the defaults and its still the same on my laptop.

I am hoping either a peice of software i can look at my video bios settings in, or if i reflash my video bios this may fix this issue, can anyone let me know their thoughts or how i can go about this?

Far more likely to be a hotkey setting than anything in the BIOS :)
You should have a hotkey that allows you to switch between internal & external monitor, try cycling through the options here as it boots.
The reason it first displays at the Windows login screen, is because Windows is intelligent enough to figure out there is no external monitor.

ah kewl it would be great if it was that, would it more than likely be the fn key then one of the f1 to f8 keys, i think at some point i may have tried them im not sure of what other general keys i can try apart from everything lol
do them fn shortcut kets even work on boot?

i have tried the fn and f6 key which is my screen on and off, i cannot find any short cut keys for sending video to internal or external display, does anyone know them for a laptop or r they all different.

other than that i dunno what else to try, any ideas?

i have tried flashing to the first bios and also to another mid way though plus back to the newest again and it stays the same, just blank.
i can only see anything on boot if i connect an external monitor to the monitor port, jjust nothing on my laptop until it gets into windows then it just appears.

:( would reflashing the video card bios not sort it do you think? i am hoping acer bring out a newer bios just incase it sorts this problem

ah right, i know my laptop does have the video in my sig i dunno if its fixed in the motherboard though, when i run nitor 4.8, after i read the video bios, this is the settings that there are from what it reads, does anyone know if this looks right? I have posted a img below if it.

BIOS settings probably been reset and told the laptop to use its external monitor output as the primary display at boot time.
Get a monitor and plug it into your laptop, then power it up, and hopefully you should be able to see your computer booting on the external monitor and get into the BIOS.

hi russ, yeh i can do that and have tried, i have been in the bios, but unfortunatly there are no settings i can change in there to tell it what to display from, i think my only hope seems to be a newer bios upgrade if acer bring another out :(

can anyone think of anyway to fix this at all, or will i just have to put up with this now?
