hi, basically i have a microsoft keyboard,

and i have these three buttons that i never use. (Mail, Web/Home, Search)

i want to configure them so that they can be used at media buttons (Previous, ,Play ,Next) if that's possible. so that when playing a game, i could change the music without minimizing.

is this possible?

or depending on your media player, you might be able to set them up directly in the program. for example, i use foobar2000 and that has an option to set "global" shortcuts that work from everywhere even when other programs have focus.

Have a look at the Intellitype software from the Microsoft website, this should sort you out.

This.
My Samsung keyboard is currently masquerading as a Microsoft Wired Keyboard 400.
Note that it won't work with all keyboards. A Cherry keyboard I had insisted on it's own (rubbish) software drivers.

sorry i forgot to mention.

i bought it for £5.00 and its a PS/2 keyboard.

i know..is a crap keyboard. xD

but does that matter?

yh tried Intellitype..doesnt work as it said it doesnt support PS/2 keyboards =/

I use SharpKeys with my IBM Model M keyboard to map the Winkey function (obviously missing on the ancient Model M) to the otherwise useless-to-me CapsLock key.

I'm not sure if it would work with dedicated media keys, as my Model M doesn't have any. :)

There is a plugin for WMP 12 called WMP Keys. This lets you assign shortcuts etc.. but for standard keys, not media keys.

It does work you just need to download the older version. On the download page for it, it'll say what version to download.
