Hi Folks

Did some research on the net but not getting any useful answers.

Question is, has anyone got Win 7 to pass through a 5.1 DD or DTS signal through SPDIF to there amp using CCCP?

I used to use XP and it was easy to set the settings so the audio would pass straight to my home cinema amp but on Win 7 i cannot get the stupid thing to pass through the DD or DTS signal. It will only pass 2.1 signal to my amp.

I have tested the sound settings and 5.1 works perfect with the test bit, but no video file will pass the uncompressed 5.1 signal to my amp. Really annoying me as Win 7 is 10 years newer and can't even get the basics right.

Win 7 Pro 64 bit
Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS

I know all my hardware is setup correctly as it worked fine with XP and it can play 5.1 using the windows 7 sound testing bit. All CCCP settings correct. Win 7 just refuses to co-operate!

Any advice appreciated.

If the Test sections pass on DTS/DD properly then it's not really Windows 7 fault is it?

For reference VLC passes my SPDIF DTS/DD to my amp perfectly when told to do so. I suggest it probably is a CCCP setting.

Any reason you need to use CCCP?

I'm using WMP Classic Home Cinema.

The reason i use CCCP is because it has always worked for me and was really one of the first programs i found that could reliably and easily pass a 5.1 signal to my amp. Been using it for years on XP and its perfect so no point in changing it.

I've looked at ALL the settings and there is nothing obvious, normally when u set SPDIF passthru and set Creative Audio Console to passthru the 5.1 signal it instantly works on XP. So with Win7 you would imagine that it would be even more simpler but its no working.

I'll try VLC player and see if that helps.

I use ffdshow tryouts to bitstream.

With ffdshow you just go to the output tab on the audio preferences and then click the ac3 and dts etc and it will bitstream. Set your SPDIF as primary audio output on your player.

I use ac3 filter for DTS because i use the lav filters splitter with mpc-hc 64bit and dts on ffdshow-tryouts does not work with that combination, it does but you have to disable the mpc-hc internal audio filter before it works. So the workaround is ac3filter for dts.

thanks for the info but my OCZ ssd just died on me! ****** pos! :@
will post back results when I get win7 loaded back onto the good old spinny drive. :)

latest update... still can't get spdif passthru.

FML and F windows 7, i'm going back to XP.

Groen thanks for your help but i CBA with all this downloading codecs and installing codecs nonsense. Spdif passthru should just be a tickbox exercise and nothing more. I just want the 5.1 audio stream to pass unmolested to my amp! Seriously how hard can it be!!!
on a side note, no wonder PC gaming is dying! everything requires a degree in rocket science to work! When i plug in the xbox 360 i get 5.1 no probs! Why can't a Windows operating system just get the basics right! rant over!

Well Sin what do you recommend using to pass 5.1 through?

CCCP was the first ever easy to use codec pack that worked for me on XP many years ago which is why i use it! At the time nothing could touch it.

Just reinstalled XP and installed latest CCCP and BOOM!!! 5.1 straight to my amp after ticking the AC3 and DTS spdif passthru boxes!
