Anyone know how to get this type of shot?

I saw this on Jonathan Knowles site.

Any idea out I can capture it? I have a tripod, Canon 430EX and 30D.

The problem you are going to have if you take the shot with just one flash is that it is not going to evenly light the background and the glass and if you flash front or side on, you are going to have a reflection in the glass somewhere that is gonig to be easy to see.

To achieve something silimar to what is in the photo, maybe try placing a whilte sheet behind the glass (with a well lit room in the background), then either use a softbox, or use something to hold a large sheet of white paper in front of your flash and underexpose by a stop on the flash exposure.

Nah, you could get that shot fairly easily with minimal photoshopping.

The ghetto way to do it would be to hang a thin bedsheet behind your subject (preferably in a 180 degree arc) and light it with a strong white light. A couple of 500w halogen worklights would do. Recon it'd cost you about £12 to set up.
