I'm just looking at Warwick Business courses and have come across a good looking course at the Warwick Business School. I had a look here http://www.wbs.ac.uk/about/find/ and on similar pages but couldn't find anything that gave me a definite answer.

Does anyone know if the Warwick Business School is in the Universities Campus or if it's a completely different building placed away from the main University?

Thanks.

There are two companies providing frequent local bus services to the University of Warwick:
That to me says it's on the campus - which is massive and in the middle of nowhere.

Yep - it's on the main campus, just across the road. They've just had a new development approved (the newest WBS building is only 2 years old) which is all WBS stuff and that'll go nearby too.

Hi there,

Yeah, the university's close to Coventry rather than Warwick... it's called Warwick uni because it's (partly) funded by Warwickshire county council ;s.

Closer? It's IN Coventry.

For some idiotic reason most of the students (me included) live in Leamington Spa, which means I'm stuck with an almost 10mile commute every morning. :o

And I can confirm what other posters have said, the wbs is on campus :)

I will reply for Matt seeing as we are really good mates and both go to warwick. We both do BSc Accounting & Finance which although is in the warwick business school, it is still part of the university. I love being at Warwick, really good place to study and the campus is amazing. As you will find out if you come, it sometimes feels like you are in a "bubble" on campus as it isn't really near anything else. That has its upsides and downsides.

In terms of nightlife on campus, the union is currently undergoing redevelopment so the events are now held in a crazy looking tent (absolutely massive) which they call TES (temporary event structure). I am not keen on going there to be honest as its too hot and shuts early due to noise travelling to surrounding accomodations. When the new union is up and running it will be fantastic though (so I believe).

Edit: Sorry missed a question, as you said, you have a choice really between living either in Coventry or Leamington Spa (there is also earlsdon which is VERY close to campus). Leamington is where most students live and has the best "student" nightlife. Coventry is a good place to go out also, and is obviously nearer to campus. You will tend to find the international students go to Coventry and home students to Leamington.

What's Warwick uni like? Are you glad you went there? What are you studying? What's it like having to go and live in Leamington Spa or Coventry after the first year?

(Sorry for the questions... I've applied to Warwick (among others) but am not sure what it would be like)

I'm a 3rd year doing Accounting and Finance. I like it, some people say it's isolated but there's really no reason to leave the campus in the first year, especially with Tescos less than a 10minute walk away. The facilities are good and courses excellent. Then if you do want to venture out Coventry city centre is hardly far away with very frequent buses.

The Union is being rebuilt at the moment, so unlucky if you're a fresher on campus this year but it should be good when it's finished. If you do go to Warwick get used to construction sites, they're ALWAYS building something. They have just finished a new digital lab and refurbed the library, and now they're extending the Arts Centre and redeveloping the Union. Sounds like the business school is next on the list.

Living in Leamington Spa is a mixed bag for me... I've never seen one place with such a split personality before. In North Leam it's an amazing place, pleasant atmosphere, nice houses, the parade has a good variety of shops etc... However in the South it's an absolute hole, and guess where I have ended up living. We have had some trouble with the local chavs starting fights with my friends when we're out minding our own business and my car has been vandalised a couple of times.

The transport links are good, the bus to campus runs very frequently. But it can take a while in rush hour because it's mostly country roads that get congested. I wouldn't have personally chosen to lived in Leamington, but everyone else I know came here so I didn't really have a choice! My car also makes the commute more bearable.

So to summarise, love the university, hate Leamington ;) Anymore questions fire away.

I wouldn't have offered if I knew the questions were going to be difficult :p

I think generally the post grads are housed in different halls, I think there are some halls that are for post grads only. But to be honest I'm not entirely sure. They certainly don't get housed with freshers but it might be possible to be in with a mixture of final year undergrads.

You'll have to find someone more knowledgeable to ask I'm afraid :o
