This is in a Japanese guitar book....I bought it as the actual music (staff/tab) is standard

I wanna know what the writing under each of the turret type things means.

It definitely left and right hand....so would make sense that the writing was just relating to fingers 1,2,3,4 or middle, index etc but the entire book is for flatpicking (plectrum) so makes no sense to list fingers for a he right hand. But who knows, the books a bit whack!

You're correct, it is left (左手) and right (右手) hand.

Underneath for both hands it reads: Stamina (耐久力), technique (テクニック), stretch (ストレッチ), control (コントロール).

Without seeing the rest of the page it is hard to see what it is illuding to though!

Amazing, thankyou!

the rest of the page is just the tab/sheet music but stamina, technique, stretch and control make sense!

on the right hand the symbols for stretch aren't there, it's something else...what is that one?

There's actually quite a few things I'd like to know what they mean in the book if you don't mind answering for me I'll put some more pictures up?

Tried the Google Translate app? There's a live camera feed function that I used to great effect whilst going around Japan and holding it up to signs and information sheets etc. However, I can't recall which writing system it worked well on...worth a shot though, given it's free.

Ah yeah sorry. The other one under right hand is Rhythm (リズム).

Yeah mate upload them and I'll take a look although will be turning in for the night shortly.

cheers...no rush, bought these books ages ago but never used them much, now it's just annying me not knowing what the instructional parts mean!

I'll give that a go thanks!

The app works...pretty amazing! Never knew such a thing existed! (the taking photos part) makes sense tho

Will go through the book with the app first then query the translations that make no sense!

Pajero

It's a seriously impressive bit of software isn't it! So long as you're not relying on it for important stuff, it does the job really rather well and super fast.

yupp, very smart....bit freaky when it does it in real time before taking the picture!

This thread made me think of this song from a fair few years ago... :D

a fair few yes! :)

You should see what Google Googles used to do before I turned it off! Once took a picture of something, and in the image was an advert to Whole Foods. A few minutes later, I got a notification with directions to the nearest Whole Foods store

Turned off as much as I could, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's not still ticking along in the background.

The app is so good! I'm just using that....some of the translations are a bit hard to follow, works fine for this type of book as I can pick out the keywords and make sense of it. Might not be so good if it was a novel.

Push through the pain....to become transcendental guitarist..discipline..that kind of thing!
more interesting than the usual guitar books :d

This is one of the books
