Changing the radiator on GFs 2004 MINI One.

Seems it has an AC rad when its not got AC and has the older fan pack. :confused:

Anyone know what the chaffed wire is? Looks a thickish gauge and a single wire. The plug wasnt connected to anything.

Note the fan harness is twisted and was then covered in tape to the main body harness :mad:

I'm pretty sure that the big connector with the thick wire goes to the electromagnetic clutch on the aircon compressor. Seems like your Mini did have aircon at some point.

Seems the head gasket has gone

Time to strip the head off to check its flat, MINI sell a 0.3mm thicker gasket. Thankfully its a nice cast iron block.

I think your right that is AC clutch, the wiring on the fan looks like a older pack thats been connected and the wires are the wrong way round aswell.
