Hi

A friend of mine has got a book that she thinks might be worth something. The book is by PG Wodehouse and is called Something Fresh.

its a 5th edition reprint, printed in 1933 (think the 1st editions were printed in 1915 or something i think she said). Its in pretty good nick apart from a small stain on the front cover. Shes asked me if theres anyway i can find out online what its worth.

Google isnt being much help so I thought I'd ask here :)

Cheers

Ebay is a good idea, I found out ive got a full set of books over 100 in the set, worth £10-50 each.

a friend used to sell first editions etc on the "market place" of a large online book shop (+ other stuff) not too sure if you can get pricing ideas from there, but it might be worth a look

try putting the ISBN number into Google and see what happens, you should find a list of people selling that book which should give you some idea.Normally it's 1st editions that are worth money not the 5th in 15 years unless it's special in some way

I'm not an expert or anything.
What is it that makes her think it might be worth something - sheer age?

It's just that unless the 5th Edition happened to have a run of say 100 because half the pages were mounted upside down or something similar then it just seems unlikely that a 5th edition would be worth anything major.

First editions seem to be going for £50 + (unblemished).

Your friend could probably get the cover price, if she's lucky.

I've come to the conclusion that Sequoia is actualy Hank Scorpio, president of the Globex corporation, and benign would-be world overlord.

But that's just me.

Done a search on Abebooks and one of the results were: "...1933. 251p blue cloth with black lettering to cover and spine, a little grubby but pages clean..." that was going for ~£8 inc £3p&p
