I'm looking for a car stereo MP3 player that will be able to read from DVD disks.

Is there such a thing or are there only CD players?

Im saving for the KD-AVX2

Bloomin 'eck, I just looked at the price of the DVD changers  <cough, splutter, choke>

I've got an Alpine CD MP3 HU with a 6 disc Alpine MP3 changer in the boot and thought swapping the changer for a DVD one would be good for providing even more music on tap. Not at that price!

Haha, yea i had the same shock when i wanted to upgrade the Avic with a 6 disk dvd changer....

Needless to say i got a 60Gb ipod photo and the interface instead!

Thanks for the answers guys.

So do these units actually read the information from the file tags i.e. Artist / Album / Song Title ?

The CD unit I saw was Blaupunkt and just had a menu with numerical options. It would be nice to be able to browse through the albums by name

Yep, on the Avic you get a folder list, track names and folder names, you can press the screen and navigate through the folders, if you want more file info you can click a little icon bottom right that displays all the ID3 tag info.

Only thing i will say is screen refresh can lag a little.

Avic is the daddy!! best HU ive ever had tbh, flawless with the navigation and has excellent SQ. never really been a fan of ICE, i could always take it or leave it but the Avic changed all that :D

Deffo an excellent choice if you want a full size screen and sat nav too.

Does yours ever overheat Great Advice? (Should know your name really!)

Sometimes the little fans on the back of the unit stay on for a while after i turn the car off.

Not sure if it's actually overheating but I've also noticed the fans still on after powering it off.

Yeah the fans stay on quite a bit, you gotta remember its basically a mini PC inside the DIN unit and its all tiny components so its gunna get hot. If it was too overheat it will cut out and not turn on till its sorted, the fans will just cut out when its back down to room temp.

My name is Lee btw :)

I saw a DVD reader for just over a hundred when I was looking but it was a rubbish make and 4.5gig isnt really needed just for music (which is all I wanted) so I got a quality make for less
