Hey Guys,

I just created a free website on freewebs, i know i can update to their pay service where i can get a domain and free web hosting. But i was wondering if you know of any sites where i can register a domain for free and then host it for however long i want for free, with no credit card to sign up with?

I don't mind where the company is located, any where in the world is fine but as long as there safe, good and reliable.
 
Registering a domain costs money, either you pay it directly or the hosting company does and you pay a subscription to them for hosting it. It'd be a rubbish business model (at least without advertising revenues and even then still pretty poor) if the company both gave you a free domain and hosted it.

I think you'll have to suck it up and pay even if it is just the cheap option that Killa_ken suggests.

i found if you signed up for an offer or referred some friends you can get a free domain here http://www.anotherfree.com/ that's a free .com domain

But i am really looking for a free .com domain with free hosting and about free 300 MB per month bandwidth if possible. But even bandwidth shouldn't be a problem as videos will be coming from you tube. I need several hundred people visiting the site each month so even 20GB bandwidth should be enough each month right?

So you know anyone else guys?

They could if every website would contain adverts that draw funds from the advertisers to their company. They could have a free service which is adverts and then you could upgrade to a premium service which is ad free. This is what freewebs do for people who just want to build a website and host it on their servers. (not getting a domain)

What about companies who offer just free .com domains?
and other companies that offer just free hosting?
 
Why don't you just buy it the hosting isnt expensive and if you can't afford it you have more serious problems than setting up a website. Loads of places take electron cards also, you can probably get both for about £20/30
 
You can pick up a domain name dead cheap these days, it's the hosting that has more re-occuring charges.

The domain by iteslf will depend on the type, .com being more expensive, but i've always used....

You're basically asking for the near impossible here, i don't think you'll find the answers you seek.

Even if you do get a domain free, i would imagine when it comes to renewal time they'll be a charge.

If you want to run a site, you'll also gain more benefit more from a paid for host and domain, you'll also get guaranteed uptime to.

www.site5.com was my last host, and i could never fault them. Not a UK host, but the packages offered a lot more, and cost less then a UK host (at the time). Things might have changed since then.

I actually registered yesterday with 2 different free hosts that were rated high on some of these so called "top 10 freehost" websites that tell you ratings for given webhosts.

Both hosts worked, but within 2 hours i lost FTP connectivity for hours at a time before i could get back in.

So i think, is this me?....... FTP to friends server bam in, connection stays open and alive and i can disconnect and reconnect without a problem, and kept the connection alive (FTP app settings) to see if i got dropped out etc... nope.. stayed connected.

There's always the chance it was just a busy day for those hosts, or i poorly choose hosts, but couldn't be bothered to register my name, email, and so on with further hosts to finally find one that worked.

Gave up and just installed WAMP until my friend has created me a proper sub-domain on his server for use.... :)

If you get it all for free don't expect it to be up all the time.
