Anyone know of...

OO, i wondered why they stopped giving out that free download to allow to open docx. explains quite abit.

Iam sure in ubuntu 8.04 though I was able to open docx's on my comp, maybe it was just me not noticing they were doc's though.

wordpad can save as .rtf
which is rich text format

word is probably the default program for opening them, failing that, you can use googledocs (free & online), or download openoffice

Open office has a portable version (part of the portable apps suite).

its great to have on a USB stick, never know where you'll beand what you'll have access to.

Not used google docs though, will add to the list of thigns to check out

:)

I haven't read up on it in ages, last I'd heard they were not going to do it. :)
Just found it amusing you saying that a few days after they announced they would. I think Star Office or whatever is meant to be more professional and have proper support whereas OpenOffice is free.

I use MS Office anyway, so it doesn't really matter to me. :p

InvG
Same. Office 2007.
