Hey all.

Went to pictures the other day and tried nachos as sis got some and thought id try. Loved em and the jalapenos i got were really nice. I bought some salsa dip 2 jars of diff jalapenos and some dorito packs to try replicated it at home but the 2 jars are no where near as nice. The Old El Paso ones were soft as anything with no crisp crunch to them like cinema ones and juice or whatever u call it wasnt as nice, the Mexican Discovery Jalapenos were crunchier tho not as crunchier and crisp as the cinema ones and not as nice juice over em.

Can anyone help me source what they use at the cinema please i want some but not paying cinema prices for em lol.

Was the Empire one at Sunderland if that helps.

I know what you mean - my opinion is that they might be doing somethign with them - cooking them or something. The cinema ones from Vue are crunchier but far milder than the El Paso or Discovery ones.

I did once get a generic/unheard of brand from Tesco, and they weren't anywhere near as nice.

It's the cheese sauce I've been trying to replicate. I made a roux and kept adding cheese and milk and I got something not quite there, but certainly very good, I added a little chilli powder to it to give it a tiny punch.

Yeah duno i just really liked the jalapenos i got with my nacho meal which is something i didnt expect to like as i expected them to be really bad but they were fantastic. Makes me wish i grew some this year instead of not doing peppers this year. :(

Posted in wrong section too "oops". I RTM in hopes of it getting moved.

@GrimsbyLAD

I did, asda only had them 2 on the shelf i would have bought more if i had seen any other jars of em.

Edit - Thanks whoever moved the topic for me, appreciated. ;)

never been able to buy a sauce like at the cinema, what recipe have you worked out?

I don't know that I could write it down.. I just make a roux (butter and flour) and add milk to it until it's pliable and then keep chucking in cheese until it doesn't taste floury...

It's not a perfect match for the cinema stuff but it's great.

pretty sure they are pickled.. the old el pas jals are in brine, its the same as subway.. there jalapenos are lovely, but cant seem to buy any that taste like them.

I hate whoever turned nachos into cinema food.

CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH.

I still don't understand why people suddenly find it impossible to go without food for a couple of hours just because they're at the cinema. If you want food go to a restaurant and eat, you want to see a film go to the cinema. If you want to do both go to tesco get some food and a dvd and eat your dinner while watching Dirty Harry, don't mix the two in public though.

Without the margins from food and drinks, cinemas would go bust :p
