I'm trying to remember a game that I played AGES ago when I was a kid. I used to play it with my brother and it was a simply but really addictive game.

Must be about 15 years? ago now. It was a 2D platform, and you controlled something which I think looked like a little grey worm? Unsure on that one.

The whole space would be filled with grey blocks which could be destroyed from any of the weapons you carried. And the aim (I think; well we did anyway) was to kill the other player.

I only remember one of the weapons, which was a chaingun/minigun and you could use the weapon to fly around as it propelled you in the opposite direction you were firing from.

I can't really remember much more than that unfortunately, but did spend a lot of time playing it! If any of you lot could help, that would be awesome. Thanks! :)

The idea I think is more akin to Jazz Jackrabbit as it wasn't turn based.

Also, it wasn't a game you had to buy. I think I downloaded it.

Nah. When I say 'worm' I don't mean an actual worm, I think more the elongated shape. Thinking about it now, I don't even think that's right haha.

And I don't think there was any colour in the 'scenery'. Just the grey blocks. I think just the 'worm' things that you control were coloured, I think one was blue and one was red.

Not giving much I know :(

Also, when you selected/fired a weapon, there's no gun. Just the 'bullets' coming out.

And there wasn't any story, I think it was just a simple game, one vs one.

What you're describing sounds like a game we had on our computers at 6th form. It's called Leiro. It's basically like real time worms.

THAT'S THE GAME!

Wow, my memory of the game is shocking lol.
Not sure why I thought it was all grey.

Thanks! Now to see if I can download it somewhere.

You're welcome. I remember you could play 2 player on the same computer using the same keyboard. Plenty of free periods where wasted on this game. The person who managed to install it on all the college machines deserves a medal :D

p.s. I just checked and it's spelt Liero not Leiro

Yeah that's the one, it's really fun! I definitely recommend having a play. And change the reloading time to 0%, makes it much more interesting! :D
This is going to waste the night away, once my bro comes back from work haha.
