Been helping a mate rebuild his 220 tomcat, and i was never sure of the way the cams are lubricated. On the cars ive worked on the in the past where was a spray bar which was directed onto the lobes.

On the 220, the inlet cam cover has a baffle plate in it with a vent and the exhaust cam doesnt have anything but the cam cover.

I can't see how the oil gets onto the lobes, or is it just fired up and rover just hoped for the best.

Any pictures showing how its meant to work would be appericated. Cheers.

Oil from the bearing journels flood the cams and fill the 'trough's next the the bucket tappets.

that's whats going on there then. got the car running but top end is sounding rough, i was worried there was summit missing with regards to the cam oil supply.

Tappets prob empty. Fast idle for 20mins will soon quieten them down
