As far as I’m aware NTL don't give static IP addresses to residential customers. You should be allocated one automatically from your cable modem once its powered up.

Is there an option to select DHCP or dynamic IP address?

what do i need too do ring them up and ask for a dynamic ip?

From NTL website:

• ntl has Dynamic IP addresses (assigned by DHCP). You do not have to specify an IP as directed by some manufacturers.

• The ntl DNS servers do not have to be specified within the router as directed by some manufacturers.
