Hi Chaps

Any idea what this connector is called? It powers the lights on an external hard disk caddy. I need to buy a new one with the leads attached to it. One of the cables to it is damaged so I need to buy a new one, can't solder onto the old one because there isn't enough cable still attached, doh! It's really small, only about 8mm wide.

EDIT: great the image won't work, I couldn't figure out how to just simply upload one. I'll have to faff about signing up to a hosting site later!

Don't need to sign up to anything, I use Imgur and then when it uploads, on the top left there is a box, choose BBCode (Forum) and copy/paste that link into here ;)

I'm not sure of its specific name - but I would have a look on the RS components catalog

P.S you may still be able to re-use the plastic connector piece with a new wire assuming the wires are in metal sock like sleeve thing within the platic connector - you will just need a couple of pins to depress the tiny catches on this to release them.

I believe it's a Molex manufactured (or copy) connector. Possibly a 5264 series. 50-37-5023.

Been a while since I worked with these connectors.

Looks like a Tamiya connector but there's different sizes I believe so you'd need to check which one is relevant to you.

you should be able to remove the pins from the plug
and solder directly to the pin
it should have a window on one side of the plug were the pin retention mecanism is present
push it in with a neadle and extract the pin
