Hi all,
On a new build, a piece of plastic pinged off my MSI B450 Mortar MAX, when I raised the CPU locking bar. Nothing metal or mechanical in it, but it does have 2 pin holes? I found a picture online of what it was before it snapped off, but I've never seen one before and don't know what it was for, or if it was important? any ideas?

Just looks like a stopper to stop the lever rolling over, guessing you should be ok without it. You could try sticking it back on with some araldite, tweezers and a steady hand but should be fine anyway if you choose not to attempt this.

Agree with joxeon
Looks like just to stop the lever going past 90 degrees
If on pc use BB link on imgur
And don't just paste it use the insert image icon~next to smiley face icon
If it adds IMG text at start and end of your link delete those
Then your image should show here:)

Thanks for the replies (and the Forum tips) I couldn't see any function for it, other than some sort of stopper either. There were no conducting elements to it in any way so I assumed it was cosmetic. Was slightly confused as to why it would be molded with 2 pin holes in it? Perhaps it could be used as some sort of jumper holder? Another strange thing, is that it doesn't show on any pictures of MSI B450 Mortar Mboards! the pic was from a Gigabyte variant.

That's a spare pin holder for when you accidentally break a pin off your cpu, thought everyone knew that! alternatively you could keep 2 short pieces of stripped cat 6 cable to stick in the cpu holes to make contact with the broken pin solder pad, 'pre lga' lga ;) :p (the last bit really did happen and does work lol)
