Apparently this snake appeared on my work colleagues patio this morning. Its dead and although it looks a bit like a toy apparently its very real. Its missing its tail as well by the looks of things. Does anyone know what it is? I dont think its an adder or a grass snake but i could be wrong. If anyone could confirm what it is we'd be grateful! Cheers :)

Thread hi-jack...

Does anyone know what this snake is? I went for a walk today on my lunch break and stumbled across it. Thought it was a rather large worm until it started moving.

Looks like slow worm..

omg its easy a rubber snake look at the end where the tail has been cut off .. how many snakes insides look like that

The probability that that snake is real is very little. It has no similar markings of any native UK snake species. The head looks disproportionate to me, the end of the tail is exactly the same shade as the rest of the snake (if it was decomposing it certainly wouldnt look like that).

Having said that, it could be a female adder with lighter skin and more rounded markings. I doubt it though. Get him to get some more close up shots of it to prove its real.

You sure? It had a face on it similar to a snakes - as in, I could see it's eyes at least. And when I poked it with a twig (yes, not the most intelligent things I could have done) it moved in a snakey kind of fashion.

Someone I know reckons it might be a cornsnake? I guess the picture doesn't help much.

Slow worms look very snaky but are a bit stumpy.

It's a reticulated corn python, they're poisonous to look at. Been nice knowing you. :D

A slow worm is a reptile, not a worm. I don't think that it's technically a snake, though - just a limbless reptile.
