Anyone know what WW2 game this is?

I recently saw a friend of a friend who had an online ww2 game where you are japanese or american, and you you can start on an island or from a ship

You can fly the old planes, call in air strikes or control them, or rove the islands killing

Trouble is i don't have the guys number to ring him and find out

any ideas peeps
 
Battlefield 1942 perhaps?

Or one of the battlefield games anyway. Axis v Allies and on the island levels you start off on the boat and can either fly or take a boat to the island. Other team starts off on the island.
 
i wish i could still play 1942... it has a fit if i try to installl and play it on my pc!

I loved the desert combat mod for it

he wasnt playing Battlefield 1943 on the consoles was he ? sounds pretty much the game ... Corel Sea might have been the 'planes' only map .. also you can call in air strikes and take control of them in 1942 .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpSGczT9Arw <turn off sound>

its a brilliant game, although budget priced on consoles its a blast with the PC version out next year with tons more options and better graphics including joystick support etc etc
