It's near the end of Semster 2, and I'm almost into my overdraft. I'm on the government setup, Student loans direct. Anyone Know what the transfer dates are for the third semester's student loan is by chance?

don't get my 3rd terms lot till 11th may. I thought it was the start of term for everyone?

Yikes I've finished uni by then! Mines due next April 27th. I hate the way the third one comes so late, and is bigger when you really dont need it. I could really do with it right now, and will be probably in my overdraft by the time it comes around.

lol my term doesn't finish till 19th june. I'm 300 in my overdraft. Except i haven't spent that much, it's just sitting in an isa happily making money for me.

The next payment is the 27th of April! Cant believe the gap between the 2nd payment and final payment! Stupidly long when compared! I dont have an overdraft so gonna have to reach into the savings I guess.

Im really feeling the pinch.

You know the interest you make in the ISA is almost the same as the interest your loan collects whilst you're not paying it back. You've essentially taken out a loan only to pay it back without using it :p

interest free overdraft ...

Current SLC interest rate: 1.5%. Best available ISA rate: 3.51%. Overall gain = 2.01%. On a £3,000 loan (and it could be 2 or 3 times that by the end of your course) that's £60 a year / £5 a month of free money. Not going to save your life but definitely worth the effort in my book. Add on an interest free overdraft and even better.
