Anyone know where I can obtain 4mins20secs of Unreal series or Quake 2 or 3 footage?

It needs to be unedited, just 4mins20secs of multiplayer gameplay so that I can add my own music to it. Preferably I'd like it without music but with sound effects, if not nevermind, just an unedited clip that long would be nice.

Thanks to anyone that can help, it's to do with my dissertation I'm writing about First Person Shooter Soundtracks.
 
argh, can't really find any unedited.

I need footage at least that long that I can edit, but that hasn't already been made from a compilation of clips. I ust need game sound and no music, and no chat.

When do you need it by? I _might_ have some old footage lying around of clan matches of ut2004 with venom. It would be lurking on a hdd somewhere so I will need to hunt for it.

Infact go into #divine and on quakenet and call Huggley a link-gun spamming n00b. Then tell him that you want to fraps the game to show him just how much you are going to hand his ass to him. That'll get you your footage...... guaranteed :D

haha, don't actually have IRC installed, but I have the next day or so to wait if I can't find any. Please do have a look, i'll post in the other thread here to and beg.
 
Quake 2 & 3 should if memory serves have a built in recording mode :)

Fire up a server, get people in it, pull down the console and type the neccessary commands and play!

Record endless demos and you can then use that as much as you like :) It's how I made my HL avi :)
 
Go to clanbase and see if you can get a Q3 demo file of a clan match or say OPC forums and get some unedited trickjumping stuff. Even the defrag sites should help...

Whack that into Q3 and frap it into a video - job done...

Ive probably got a demo file somewhere though Im crap ;)

Right I know how to do this now :)

Follow the guide HERE!


If you play nice we should be able to round up some peons for an hour or so and comepletly lay into each other with random weapons whilst you record demos.

Then you can chop a section of the demo that is 4min 20 sec long - needs a LOT of HDD space.

bmp2avi (handles TGA files that Quake 3 outputs)

Chuck it into a video editing package (I used Premiere 6) and fiddle until your happy :)


I did all that with slightly different console commands making my HL AVI :)

Something lie that should be possible with a day or so's work :)

Yeah but a custom made one with mad shennanigins going on would rock :) Plus it's an excuse to play games and generaly have crazy funs :)

Which reminds me I must install Q3A and see if I can still play it :|
 
Thanks for all the info guys, I havent got Q3A installed and the disc is at my Uni address, so I can't do it until tomorrow night or maybe even tuesday.
