Anyone know where to buy HDDVD's ???

I am looking for some HD DVD's to buy but seem unable to find anywhere that sells them .
I recently bought myself(and the wife) an HD LCD TV and a HD dvd player and wanted to see what it's like in high def mode.
The dvd player upscales to 1080i and the TV can display 1080i but i want to see a proper 1080i film, although the picture is fantasic from a standard dvd when upscaled.

Oh dear.. I think the salesman has been after you :p

HD-DVD hasn't been released yet, and even if it was your player wouldn't play them!
Your DVD player can upscale standard DVDs, but the picture quality won't be anywhere near HD. You'll need to buy a proper HD-DVD player to play HD-DVDs. The first Toshiba players should be available via import from the US by the end of the month, and we may see players in the UK by end of April-ish.

The only HD material currently available is via Xbox360, or from a PC.
 
nope, no such thing as a HD DVD player yet.

yours is a DVD player with an HDMI connector, thats the only difference.

It does not play HD DVD's.

There are no HD DVD players out yet & when they are out they certainly wont be 130 quid.

You have a DVD Player with a HDMI connection and also an integrated scaler.

I would be suprised if your TV can display 1080i too, not saying it won't but not many models are able to. Hitachi 7200 42" Plasma can off the top of my head.

What model TV have you got?

I was the one who said they had an LCD TV, it's my thread;)
Sony Bravia V40A12U if you must know :)

Oh, and no salesman involved in the purchase of the DVD player,that was completely my fault,didn't read the all the blurb before buying it and it was and internet buy.

I must say though the picture from both the tv and dvd player is great and the sound the dvd player produces is very good indeed.

I think it is amazing! I paid just over £1400 for mine delivered! And considering it's worth over £2k I'm well chuffed with it!

The RRP is £2000, it's not worth over £2k.

Also, I take back what I said earlier, this TV cannot display 1080i without some sort of scaling as the res of the panel is 1024x1024. (Rectangle pixels)

It is a brilliant plasma though.

Pioneer, Panasonic and Hitachi have always seemed to make good screens.

I'm well pleased with it.

I want to get Sky HD sorted but am unsure of cost atm.asked sky for a package cost but have not yet heard back from them.

I remember someone telling me Sky+ is HD ready, but dont know if this is true or not, any ideas?
