So put my notice in few weeks back to start a new job with more money and better opportunity, supposed to start in a few weeks and contract signed. Been in current role 6 years. Obviously with all that's going on I'm bricking it.

Spoke to current company who said seems risky for me to leave and are happy for me to stay. Emailed new company to see what's going on other day but not had a reply.

In this situation even if I'm given assurances is it better to stay put or take the risk? Was a great role but will obviously have no protection.

Anyone else in this situation

I am just over a month into my notice period with 2 more months to go until I am supposed to start my new role. I emailed my line manager at the new company for clarification on the circumstances (job security and logistics of starting the role with what's going on) and he seemed more concerned about the logistics of me getting started than if I start (e.g. potentially working from home to begin with). It also seems as though the company is still recruiting for similar positions within the same division I am joining (a recruiter coincidentally got in touch about a role there on Friday).

I am really hoping this doesn't fall through. He said he would like to keep my start date as it is and would get in touch with HR (presumably about the logistical side of things) and keep me in the loop. Nonetheless, I am plan to give him a call on Monday just to discuss it over the phone as I am hoping that might give me more peace of mind.

What industry is it? Is your current role secure?

My current company left my job open for me so decided to stay where I am. Gutted as wanted to leave for a while as ive learnt nothing in a a few years and not progressed at all. New job was quite a bit more money with much better prospects, however right now its way way too risky for me as I won't be protected and my current role is quite secure as big company (could change though) . Just happy to be in employment.

The new company haven't really given me many assurances about the security of my new role despite contacting them. Just that as far as they aware all okay and would get back in touch with me about the training, any changes etc but not heard anything back since I contacted them Tuesday.
