Anyone live in or around Windsor/Eton/Datchet or Wokingham area?

The area I'm living in at the minute is nice and is close to where I work but I don't know anyone there so I'm thinking of moving to the Windsor area or even to Wokingham. I'm looking to move into a one bed flat/apartment or even into a houseshare (with professionals). I've noticed that prices in Windsor and the surrounding areas are quite high and from what I can see on the net there doesn't seem to be a great deal of choice. Wokingham appears to be a bit cheaper but again I can't find a lot of properties of the type I'm looking for.

Can anyone from any of these areas give me a link to a local property page or letting agent? My Google skills aren't that good.

I've visited these areas and thought they were very nice. Like almost everywhere else, are there specific places I should avoid? Anything else to watch out for?

Thanks :)

Oh heavens no! Windsor has gone down hill ever since they forced upon us the Slough postcode. Greener pastures are to be found elsewhere, my dear sir!

With a UB postcode at the minute, I think an RG (or whatever it is) will be a step up in the world for me :D

I live in Old Windsor and moved from Datchet.

If your addy is your msn addy I'll add you for a chat if you wish.

I live in Wokingham. Voted 2nd most desirable place to live in England (some newspaper). Simply because it is the perfect commuter town. Although if I had the choice, I would live in Windsor. But the problem with that, is that you get all the Asian rudeboys from Slough drive there in the evenings to show off their motors and cause trouble.

being born and bred from wokingham, its certainly a nice place to live in, though i'd say the majority of the population are families, as its a pretty expensive place to live.

local agents i can think of are:

www.romans.co.uk
http://www.martinpole.co.uk/
http://www.virtualneg.com/richardworth/

as for places to avoid in wokingham:

norreys avenue - bit of a **** hole in my opinion.
rainbow park in winnersh, near to wokingham

you also might want to think about avoiding anywhere you'd have to drive past wokingham train station during rush hour, as the traffic can be an absolute nightmare sometime.

Reading is very close by and certainly more lively, but depends what you're looking for really.

I'm on a UB postcode, UB10 to be precise. I think the higher the number the more upmarket the area is. :p

I'm in Ickenham.

I'm only an ickle 4, just beside Yeading.

Thanks for the posts everyone. I'm getting a load of info from Ciba on MSN which is really helping.

Used to live in Wokingham near Cantley Park...

Agree with the Norreys Avenue bit all ex council housing prefabs. But even that is so much better than all sorts of areas in say Reading.

Town center is much better than it was with more bars and places to go. Plus the Indian Restaurant near the town hall is the best I have ever been to !

RDG REPRESENT!

i live in reading but spend plenty of time in wokingham. its a lovely place to live but you definately need a car to get about. theres f-all to do apart from drink at the numerous pubs in the town.
