anyone looking forward to 9600gt

Are the benches that showed this doing quite well against the GT accurate? I would have thought it would be more in line with the 8800GS. Am considering a downgrade, but dno't want to downgrade too far. Still want to be able to play games medium at least, and not too bothered about AA. Am wanting to spend around £100 max, and can get 8800GS within that limit including postage....

£123 is lowest price, the leadtek 8800gt is £146. only £23 lower and performance is MILES worse. Nvidia have released this card solely for dumb customers to buy thinking ooo a 9 series card:) the 8800gs is better and cheaper.

Lets just hope the 9800gt isnt a crazy price for the minimal improvement over the 8800gt.

While it's hardly 'miles' worse (look at some reviews before jumping to conclusions, thanks), the price is still asking a bit much for a mainstream card.

Pretty much as expected, 8800gt is a better option. I did read somewhere though that 9600gt beats the 8800GS

I was holding out for the 9 series as I wanted DX10.1/SM 4.1 to last me a couple of years, but they have let me down :(

How would the 9's have Dx10.1/SM4.1 when they are 8800's, which are only Dx10/SM4.0. :p

Looks like the 8800 GT price will be jacked up now then for the extra SLi connector, £200+ now anyone. :D

Maybe if I was a little smarter I would've noticed the pattern of graphics cards that look exactly the same: same length, same width, same height, sometimes with a slight variation on the cooler and an extra half a frame per second in CryMark 07 were nothing but exactly the same card which nVidia and its board partners have been lying through their arses about to convince us that they're even slight variations on the 8800 GT that was released last October?

I mean seriously, they're priced the same, they perform the same, with nothing but the odd tweak here and there to set them apart, what's the difference? A name? Who knows?

Ah well, what can I say? At least I'm not the person that bought 50 different cards that were all exactly the same in a bid to get the best one...
