FireTV does everything i'd want an apple TV to do from a media point of view and for a lot less money, it also allows me to use Kodi etc. which when combined with Prime instant video and other subscription based TV services (and the 'free' ones) makes it hard to beat. Apple had a great product with appleTV that was genuinely ahead of ti's time - it's one of the few areas that apple really did get significantly ahead of the crowd, but they made the mistake of letting it die in a corner and now the market has moved on, not only that but they've surpassed the standard apple set at a much lower price point. Even if it's got a jailbreak I honestly can't see much reason to buy one.
