Anyone not like being overtaken?

Overtaking doesn't bother me in the slightest. Can't see why some folk get heated up about it.

Pointless overtaking however, can be annoying. When some muppet roars up behind you, tailgates you and then overtakes only to slow back down again. Never quite worked that one out. :p

Had someone brake test me in a car park after they cut me up as I was manouvering out of a tight space. They then jumped out looking for a fight (older man and late teens son).

Some people are just out to do no good whatsoever but for themselves. I just dropped the car in reverse and went out the entrance rather than entertain them. I then had a de-stress drive in the country and ruined my brakes. You always think back and wish you'd just planted your angry fist in their selfish face but it would only ever look bad on you.

As for your brother, it's the bigger stonger guys are are the most reserved. It's shorties with an inferiority complex you gotta watch out for!

id personally have physically restrained him for attempting to leave the scene of an accident without leaving details whilst on the phone to the police.

quick snatch of the keys as he attempted to get back in and drive off should have surficed. Especially if your brother is as capable of handling himself as he is.

Happens loads of times, but not to that extreme, had people flashing / waving etc for overtaking, even had a BMW with a 40 yearold or so trying to chase me for overtaking him down a country road, some people are really really odd, its like overtaking makes them look inferior or something.

Not bothered if someone overtakes me in the correct manner, but pointless overtaking annoys me.
I've been overtaken when there's a set of traffic light 120 yards down the road,
& then the guy overtaking turns left 10 seconds later.

Tailgating is my big pet peev.
I'll be driving along at whatever speed the traffic or road conditions dictates,
& some kn*b will be sitting 3" off my bumper.

I had one today, I was doing 70-75mph on the M42 in the outside lane, a few cars in front of me so I couldn't go any faster.
Guy behind me in a new A4 right on my bumper flashing me to move over.
When he finally drove past me he was giving me the No swearing

i tailgate people that do 70 in the outside lane :p

having said that though, not if there are cars in front and thats the maximum speed the outside lane can do. Sometimes the motorway is just too busy to do 80 + in the in the outside lane.

i dont mind being overtaken*

*unless im coming up to a motorway junction for example having left PLENTY of space behind my car for others to file into, when they decide to try and "razz" it past on the outside, cut in at the last second forcing me to brake (despite having left quite ample space to the car in front to avoid me crashing into them)...

sure i have a choice to speed up to stop them and potentially have someone crash into me but its not worth the effort...

but do they really think they are the big man for making up 1 additional place, and doing a dangerous manouver by cutting at the last minute? probably...

on the oither hand, do i get really really annoyed when someone joins a motorway, and sits in the ouside lane, barely accelerating from 40mph...despite it being clear for them to move over into the inside lane? (typically middle aged women, on their phone sat in a luxury 4x4), yes that really gets my goat.

I don't like being overtaken, but i i just do the normal man reaction try and overtake stuff back, even though my car is a heap.

The other day i had to do 100 odd to overtake a porsche that did me on the a419, stupid move, yes. Satisfying? Oh hells yes.
Then he shot past me again :D

That reminds me. Sone this bloke in an E46 slid off the road into the hedge at a fair speed whilst I was walking my parents dogs and quite nearly doing me some harm. He jumped out giving it large at me like it was my fault and pushed me away. He was rather drunk and in my face and then tried to drive it back out.

I pulled his keys out, threw them into the field then he then went scrambling around to get them. As he ran off I phoned the police as I carried on my way back home. Some odd people around.

I've had a few flashers in my time, and chasers. The problem is, they';re mre dangerous than yourself passing them,. They're flapping around, flashing mid corner not looking where their going. I just carry on my merry way.

I hate people who refuse to go over 70 in 3rd lane and refuse to budge thinking 'legal limit, I don't have to move for someone wanting to go faster'

Good thing on a bike you never have trouble with being overtaken / tailgaters, twist grip to stop and watch them engage reverse :)

Some guy slammed his brakes on the other day because he probably thought I was too close on a winding 40mph road to work - I had around 1.5 car lengths distance which is perfectly adequate distance on this particular road and he just slammed his brakes! I slammed mine and stopped before him, my colleague wa sin her car behind me and after we arrived at work asked wtf that driver was dong as she saw it all happen too.

Gotta be careful of some moron drivers out there even if you're not tailing!
