Anyone noticed a low load in task manger with q6600?

Just upgraded to the q6600 from a Presler 930 and in task manager in the performance tab the usage fluctuates between 4% to 18%. With the presler it was 16% to 64%. This is with opera running with 30 tabs and programs like word 2007, dreamweaver 8, IE 6 and firefox all running.

Upon putting my hand on the 2 x120mm fan grill(at the top of my case), I notice no heat coming out. With the presler there was a lot of heat and I had to turn the fans on. Now with the q6600 I can leave them off, less noise now.

Can't wait when the octo cores come out :D

Thats one wicked pr0n addiction there dude! :D

30 Tabs WTF you browsing lol

Also I would like to enquire as to why you are running PC5300 instead of PC6400 ?

Would'nt matter much as hes not o'cin it seems :) Even PC4200 would be fine since its a 1066FSB cpu.

I prefer to have all the links like overclockers, information websites, finance pages etc open as soon as I open opera. I also do programming and trying to look for a website you looked at yesterday can be annoying, therefore I prefer to leave it in a tab. It does consume around 500mb though

I'm happy with the quad compared to the presler. I ran C&C Tib Wars and loading was very quick. I think the AI has improved, because I can't destroy their base lol.

looks like someone just got overran by the updated AI (started from patch1.05) me and my mate also got crashed by 2 brutal the other day........ our MCVs met in the middle ground of our 2 bases, with 100's scorpion tanks closing in, lol. :p

are your CPU load spread evenly across 4 cores?
and what OS are you running?

I had around 20 APC's crushed :p . I am currently using Windows XP Pro, but will put Vista ultimate on over the weekend on my 2 x raptor RAID 1. Just need to finish my ASP.NET code by Friday.

The load is spread across four cores. On core 1 and 2 there is small usage. Core three has the highest usage and core 4 has the lowest usage. If I were to estimate in percentage terms: 1 = 6% 2 =6% 3 = 25% 4 =2%

I found (when I went fairly recently) to dual core a 4%-16% almost see-saw pattern (alternating fairly crisply between the 2 every 2/3 seconds). Did a full driver check and it seems to have cleared up.
I do notice my machine is a fair bit slower seeking when I open stuff not to hijack but is that one of the joys of multi-core too?

I noticed the see-saw pattern, but not a slow down.
