On my CD MBP there is a light i've always noticed but have no idea what it does. Under the num lock key there is sometimes a small green LED that flashes very fast, you can usually only see it when you look at an angle. Anyone else noticed this?

The green LED is to show that Num Lock is on. I don't think it should be flashing though, could be a dodgy connection.

Has it always done it?

Its not as bright as the full num lock light, and doesn't light the keyboard up like the num lock one does, it was just doing it now while the screensaver was on... odd

Might be a light inside, do those keyboards come off the MBPs?

You can take them off.. it's quite a bit of work though!

I could just be some form of activity light inside, and someone forgot to cover it properly.

Yeah that was my thought. I've never owned a MBP/Powerbook so I dont know how easily the keyboards came off. If it was anything like the iBook you could whip it off in about 2 seconds flat. :p

Don't know if it's related, but my iMac has a tiny green light that shines downwards, out of the speaker grill. It's only visible when the room is completely dark. It is part of the brightness sensor, which adjusts how bright the white sleep light is.

Brightness sensor('s) are in with the speakers on the MBP I think.

Not 100% sure though.

I see it on my num key the odd time, just a low green light flickering - I generally restart and it goes away.

Hmmm, that suggests it's not just activity-based.

Might want to browse this thread from another forum.

As a safety precaution I'd suggest a quick firmware update (if you haven't already).
