Have been offered a k800i for free on a 12month contract with 3 £45 (Half price £25 for first 6 months) 600talk 400text - the guy says at the end of 6 months i can just drop my tariff down to £25 200talk 100text which would still be enough for me. Vodafone cannot match, don't do the W810i any more and are offering me the V630i.

Anyone got a 3 phone and how is their coverage/customer care etc. I have a k750i at the minute and the v630i doesn't really seem like much of a step up and it doesn't have a radio - should i switch and get the k800 from 3?

I'm not on 3 myself, but plenty of my friends are. Coverage is fine - it uses the 02 network if it can't find a 3 base station (for 2g only).

HOWEVER, customer service is awfullllll - I know of only one person who thinks it's good, but that's because he's originally from the area the call centre's based in (in India) so gets chatting to them about it before asking for anything.

changing to orange. (their 2g services)

its cs is AWFUL, service was AWFUL, phones were RUBBISH (when i used them) & it was ridiculously hard to transfer my number

but this was like two years ago now, so it could be good now.

Nope, it's still the same :(

i'm with them, they aint to bad.

as for CS, get the number for the sales helpline, always get through quickly and then they'll put you through to the right department

im thinking of going to 3 aswell.

they are using O2 at the moment but have read they are leaving them and going to use Orange network, tariffs are good value for money, handsets are getting better (n80/k800), Cs i believe is in i0ndia but have read many good reports about them, a few bad ones yes, but all networks have their ups and downs, name me one network that is perfect?

Been with 3 since Jan and not a single issue or problem.

When my handset did breakdown, they replaced it within 7 days with a NEW one. (Handset is the N70 and considering how hard they were to source at launch i thought it was a bloody miracle they got a new one in 7 days  ). Customer service was 2nd to none imo, very polite and understanding.

On the Video, Talk + Text 2600 price plan direct form 3. Travel all over the country and yet to find a spot with no coverage at all. Best part is when driving through london, hook the phone up to the laptop and have instant 3G speed mobile internet access :)

In major cities your pretty much guarenteed to get 3G coverage but out in the sticks you'll get 2.5G or 2G. As mentioned they run of the O2 network so 99% of the country is covered.

As for the k800i, seems a very good phone and cant really fault it. Great camera and takes upto 2GB memory cards IIRC.

When the company started, I think that they had such a bad image with the massive handsets and poor coverage in the beginning.

But when you think about what they have managed to achieve in only just over 3 years of operating...

If anyone is with 3, and they have issues with customer services. Pop into a retail store (can be a 3point, 3store or any 3rd party store). Get them to call channel support on your behalf - they are based in Glasgow and usually can get most things done for you...
