Anyone ordered a replacement license recently

How long did it take?

I need a photo license and applied today using the online system which takes your photo from the Passport Office database, anyone got any recent experience of how long it takes?

I ordered one a couple of months back and asked on the phone if I could get an express service, because they advise it can be a couple of weeks. I ordered it on the thursday and it was there the next Tuesday. It didn't cost any extra either. I'm not sure how it works online though, it may be different.

Took less than a week for a change of address with mine and they took off the 33hp restriction on it too (according to the paperwork you have to pay to have it taken off the card

)

Thanks, it didn't give that as an option and its my first photo license (I've held a paper license since 1989)

do you have to pay for replacements and is it essential you have the pink card?

I was also looking to know this. Does it make a difference if you want to get points removed from your replacement licence?

Replacements are £17.50 and I believe that if you tell them that you have only lost one part that they don't send out a new one until the receive the part you still have back. So if you have a photo card and paper its best to tell them you've lost both. Having had a paper only license mine should go through without any hassle, I got an email saying 10 days so fingers crossed as I really need it before the 24th of this month

The actual answer to this question is 0 working days

I put the order in online at 16.30 on Friday and the licence dropped through my door at 11.00am today.

I'm pretty pleased with that, basically if you work out normal office hours my new licence took 3 hours to get here!

I'm impressed.

That sort of speed from the DVLA is quite frightening.
