Am just about to order a Viewsonic VX922 for gaming purposes.

Would be interested in hearing from any users about whether this screen is known for unusual amounts backlight bleed or dead pixels. At least Viewsonic have a no dead pixel policy which is good.

I bought one last week and I'm really happy with it.

Its took me a while to decide because I play a lot of fast FPS games and really didn't want any problems but its absolutely perfect - easily as fast as my crt.

No dead pixels or problems that I'm aware of.

Just received my VX922 today, I have a green pixel showing constantly on the right hand side of the screen. Do I have grounds for a replacement?

Cheers.

bummer...if you read viewsonics warranty they guarantee zero dead pixels...I guess if this is a dead pixel then you can get an exchange. However this sounds like a dead subpixel.

Or you can return it to whoever you bought it from under the distance selling regulations for a refund, but you will have to pay shipping and make sure the packing is perfect.

This makes me nervous now...I might put up with the buzzing noise from my CRT for fear of getting an LCD with a dead pixel.

If you try to go down the RMA route requesting a replacement, the etailer would be within his rights to refuse as it sounds like you have 1 subpixel that is dead or lazy. Viewsonics warranty policy covers only 1 or more completely dead pixels. See below. You need to find out therefore if it is in fact a dead pixel. And even if it is, you probably need to contact Viewsonic on the matter, and you could very well end up with a refurb replacement.

http://www.viewsoniceurope.com/uk/Support/warranty.htm
"Note on Pixel Defect Policy:
For any sub pixel defect (red or green or blue) ViewSonic LCD display products are warranted in accordance with the ISO standard 13406-2 class II. On pixels ViewSonic exceeds ISO 13406-2 class II requirements not allowing for any defective (permanently dark or bright) complete pixel consisting of red, green, and blue sub pixels (“Zero Pixel Defect Policy”). "

I think you may be better off going down the Distance Selling Act route. It's EU law after all that applies to any goods bought through mail order or online that gives the buyer the right to return them for a full refund as he has not had a chance to inspect the goods prior to buying. Just tell the etailer you made a mistake and it is not the product you wanted after all. Of course the packaging has to be perfect and the goods resellable.

<edit> Hmmm...I think I may have interpreted Viewsonics policy incorrectly. If a pixel or subpixel is dead it is either going to be black or else red, blue or green usually. I am going to email them and find out the story </end>

I phoned Viewsonic today, they are refusing to honour the warranty as it is a stuck pixel not dead pixel. TBH i'd rather have a dead pixel, this green dot on the screen is far more distracting, tried to watch 24 on it last night, I couldn't take my eyes off the green dot! Argghhhhhhh!!!!!

The reason they give is....there is 10 millon pixels on the screen, we think it is acceptable that one pixel is deffective, well do you now, I was fuming! We've rolled litteraly 100's of Dell TFT's in the hospital I work in and I've yet to see a dead/stuck pixel!

If you think about, say you have a new car(1000's of working parts), one of these parts is deffective, you take it to the dealer for them to warranty it, only for them to tell you....."What are you moaning about there's 1000's of other parts that are working perfectly well!"

Good news though, looks like the supplier is willing to RMA it.

Cheers,
Paul

Glad to hear you are getting it sorted. Yeah, reading the warranty info again it says you have to have a permanent dark or white complete pixel. These days I think we see more stuck pixels then dead ones, and they are more annoying so warranty 'aint much use.

I am ordering my LCD this evening. Do you think I should chance the VX922 from OcUK ?
